It would seem the inverse is also true. When one company sees a way
to put itself ahead of the pack in terms that would benefit the
consumer (like VZW's decision to allow non-VZW CDMA phones on their
system), they'll do it. If the cabal which you call the CTIA had that
much of a strangle hold on its members, we wouldn't have seen that
decision. The limitations to which you refer above all seem like
actions taken to punish/limit people who abuse their systems by being
heavy bandwidth hogs. Again, as long as these limitations are spelled
out, I have no issues with them and you are free not to use their
services. I'm sure you recall a time when there was no cellular
system, so it's not like we couldn't live without it if were
absolutely necessary.

Sorry, but I've received all that I was ever promised. And my
contract with Alltel ended 8 days ago, so I'm free to move on if I
don't like the way they're doing business.

Or leave those companies and sign up with their competitors that don't
behave in such ways. I've seen you gloating about what you can
accomplish through your Alltel connection, so apparently they aren't
restricting you beyond your expectations. I just think it rather
pointless to endlessly whine about the practices of a company with
whom I don't do business.

What part of "speak with your wallet" do you not understand? I'm sure
you'll agree WRT the companies in question, their #1 motive for
anything they do is money. So, take your money away from them. Hit
the where it really hurts. And in a situation where every company
"does it", like not counting holidays as "free" time, it must not be
that big of an issue with consumers, else some company would be
offering free holidays just to get churned customers who are unhappy
with their current provider.
