No. The VZW data devices (PC Card, ExpressCard, or USB) all
require a one- or two-year contract.
You can, however, tether your Verizon phone to your computer and
enable the BroadbandAccess Connect (BBAC) feature. BBAC can be
turned on and off any time you want by calling Customer Service.
It costs $59.99/month, but they prorate it on a daily basis. BBAC
connect gives you the same speed and service as a data device,
assuming:
1. You switch to the Nationwide calling plan. With America's
Choice, you won;t have data service in Extended Network areas.
2. You get an EVDO Rev. A phone (there is only one so far). Other
EVDO phones are Rev 0, which means their actual download speed is
somewhat slower and their upload speed is much slower.
