8085-4??

by krf <krf@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jul 16, 2004 at 12:25 AM

I picked up a pile of 8085s from a chip pull broker and they work fine.

But...

They are labeled Intel 8085-3 which doesn't compute in any list sources
that I have or can find.

The 8085 label was the 3mhz version.
The 8085-2 was the high speed 5mhz version and I never heard of one higher
than that.

Wot the heck is a dash 3 label? Possibly some special order version?
Mil Spec order?

Intel doesn't admit to ever making an 8085, let alone dedicating web
space to archiving info about it so they are no help.

I plan to hook up an external clock to a processor and see where it falls
off the cliff at. The (normal) 8085 chip is one that never cared for
overclocking at all and I could seldom run one more than a few percent
faster than labeled so I stopped trying years ago. This will at least
tell me if I have some mislabeled chips or have found 8 bit gold.
