Nature of measured 'digital' signals

by Chris Bore <chris.bore@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jul 2, 2008 at 01:55 AM

In practice, are almost all signals in DSP finally measured as a
voltage?

That is, even though the original may be sound pressure converted
through a carbon microphone to variations in current, or may be charge
on a CCD due to photons releasing electrons, in the end there is a
conversion to voltage and from that to the digital number?

I guess the question could also be put as: do all ADCs convert from
voltage?
