No, you can't, because they are too different things.

In the original proposal, the negative frequencies become the smallest
positive frequencies, the previously positive frequencies are ****fted
to become even more positive, the bandwidth is treated as a contiguous
spectrum, and there is no spectral inversion.

In your proposal, the positive frequencies are unchanged, but the
negative frequencies are _inverted_ and ****fted over to lie above the
positive frequencies.  This breaks the bandwidth in the middle, making
things rather ugly.

Two very different situations, one common and practical and the other
rather weird.
