GDS backup's on 9 Tracks

by cvendel@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Jul 26, 2005 at 09:48 AM

I have numerous GDS backups on 6" reel to reel 800BPI 9tracks.
These were done in the early 80's on some Vax VMS systems. I am
looking for any kind of utility to read in the binary stream from these
tapes into either a Windows or Linux machine so I can access the GDS
files contained on them.

I also have a Vax 4000-200 with OpenVMS 7.03 on it, also with a 9 track
drive on that system as well, I just need to find the appropriate
app/utility to read the data off of the tapes.

If there is not direct util, is there I way for me to just make a raw
image dump of the tape to my PC, then convert the image file back into
its GDS files?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
