Western Civilization suffers from a serious case of science envy.
Newton came up with some laws that (for once) actually worked.  There
is no trope of language that I could marshal that would overstate what
Newton did.  Suddenly, everything had to have a law.

Newton's work was truly built by standing on the shoulders of others.
Lifetimes of tedious work, sometimes jealously guarded, as in the case
of Tycho Brahe.

Because (to a very good approximation) the movements of celestial
bodies obey laws doesn't mean that anything else does.  Inventing laws
based on incomplete information is not even not science.  It is
superstition.

People do this constantly.  They notice pattens and they invent
rules.  They think they are much smarter and much more insightful than
they are.

The shuck of free market "theory" is that, well, ok, so individuals
often get it wrong.  In the aggregate, markets get it right/  Where's
the proof?  It is pure superstition.

What to replace it with?  Who says it's in***bent on me to answer such
questions?  You want me to invent a law because, like everyone else,
you seem to think that everything is amenable to analysis and the
invention of laws.

The abuse I've put up with here merely for begging to differ should
give any reasonable person pause.  There is nothing free about your
"free" markets.  It's just another tyranny with a different name.
