I'm very sorry, learned professor, but, as usual, I can't follow you.

The US is ruled by money.  That's not a unique cir***stance, as the US
has been ruled by money for most of its history.

What's changed is that the veneer of Jeffersonian democracy has been
completely effaced, and we are left with self-justifying greed as the
ruling principle of our nation.  Whoever gets the most by whatever
means must be the most deserving to decide how we shall all live.

That's what "free" markets and their exponents have brought us in this
country.  It is a tyranny that keeps a permanent underclass and allows
inherited wealth to take the place of inherited nobility.

As to your personal preferences, everything you say indicates that you
align with conservatives and the free-marketeers in these matters, so
the arrangement apparently suits you.  That is to say, not only are we
saddled with a tyranny masquerading as economic "science," but you
personally are a sup****ter of this ugly system.

I don't spend a lot of time thinking about things like this, but your
apparent self-satisfaction and your repeated expressions of contempt
are repulsive.  If I were in a bar, Prof. Redelmeier, I'd suggest we
take it outside.  Now leave me alone.
