Ground pour removal around Ethernet & USB traces

by "Joel Koltner" <zapwireDASHgroups@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Jun 30, 2008 at 10:57 AM

Anyone know why Asus removed their (not really needed, IMO, and sometimes
much
more of a hassle than it's worth) ground pour around their Ethernet and
USB
connectors as shown here -->
http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/Hardware/Asus/WL500GP/IMG_0007
?  Is
it
possibly a UL/CE "safety" thing in that, at least for Ethernet, there
could be
a largish common mode voltage kicking around?
