Dear Colleagues:
The Department of Engineering Professional Development, University of
Wisconsin-Madison, will offer two forthcoming courses related to
advanced strategies for the protection of the power grid:
* Advanced Topics in Power System Protection, November 13-15, 2006,
* Wide-Area Measurements in Power Systems and Their Applications,
November 15-17, 2006. The courses will be held in Madison, Wisconsin.
The Advanced Topics course will help you understand how protection
systems can be used to allow a system to operate closer to thermal,
angular, voltage, and stability limits.
The Wide-Area Measurements course will illustrate how GPS synchronized
phasor data can lead to advanced applications of state estimation,
adaptive relaying, and feed-back control to minimize the impact of
major power system disturbances.
The course faculty for Advanced Topics in Power System Protection
features:
* Charles Henville, President, Henville Consulting Inc.
* Arun Phadke, Professor Emeritus, Virginia Tech
* Joseph Mooney, Manager, Research and Development, Schweitzer
Engineering Laboratories
The course faculty for Wide-Area Measurements in Power Systems
