First, do you specifically mean "Computer Engineering"? Or are you
using that as shorthand for "Electrical and Computer Engineering"?
I ask because of the five areas you list, most EEs probably wouldn't
consider Telecommunications an area in Computer Engineering.
A few areas (some of which are multi-disciplinary) you've left out, off
the top of my head:
Semiconductors
Power
Controls
Robotics
Biomedial
Optics
Lasers
Analog & RF circuit design
FWIW, these are all EE areas, not Computer Engineering areas.
Some of the stuff on the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic
Engineers, the main professional society for EEs and CompE's) website
might be useful. http://www.ieee.org/web/careers/home/index.html
is
probably a good starting point.
Other than that, the best idea I can come up with is to cruise the
websites of some of the top schools in Electrical and Computer
Engineering and see what they have to say. For "top schools", the U.S.
News and World Re****t listing is probably good enough. (That _does_
break it down to the level of individual departments, doesn't it?)
HTH.
