About PN junction

by lionelgreenstreet@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Mar 27, 2008 at 03:57 AM

I'm studying pn junction and i've some doubts:
1)I've found a lot of pictures that represent conduction current for p
and n charges under bias voltage in steady state.In the depletion
layer these currents are constant but i think that total current in
depletion layer is zero for the effect of ionized dopants: in fact the
imrefs are costant. Is it right?
2)if i consider generation-recombination current in space charge
layer,it is calculated as integral of generation rate.
Itot=e*G*w*a
with
w*a=volume of space charge region
G=generation rate
G is the same for holes and electrons.
But if i consider the continuity equation and generation rate equal
for  electrons and holes
Itot=Ih+Ie=(Jh+Je)*a
Jh=e*G*w
Je=-e*G*w
What's wrong?
Thanks
